PROFILE
An ARM FMIC upgrade is one of the best modifications forĀ your 335i because not only does it yield an average of 25whp and 27wtq but it does so consistently. "How?" you may ask. When you increase power with a tuneĀ for example, you are increasing boost pressure and ultimately heat in the engine. When the ECU (DME) detects too much heat, it will actually reduce timing and limit the amount of power the engine can produce in order to avoid damage. What an ARM intercooler upgrade does for your 335i is keep the intake air temperature in the ECU's "safe zone", allowing it to maximize all the modifications you have on your car.Ā

In addition, we were using the infamous Burger Motorsports JB4 to turn up the boost and manage the tuning on our beloved N54. The results were impressive: a massiveĀ 408.8whpĀ andĀ 480.4wtq!

LOWER IAT'S
How is that extra power made? The temperature of the charged air going into the engine, or IAT (Intake Air Temperature), is a key metric. This factor is essential because the cooler the temperature of the charged air, the more dense it becomes, and the increased density equals more power with the proper tuning. The higher the IAT is, the less power the car will make.
In an independent test, the OEM intercooler reached a very high, power-robbing temperature of 151 degrees Fahrenheit. The same car equipped with the ARM 5" Stepped intercooler was able to keep its power up with a very cool 106 degrees Fahrenheit. That's an impressive 45 degrees cooler than the OEM intercooler!

Opting to utilize the OEM connectors will make for a faster installation. While upgrading your 335i to the massive ARM 3" intercooler hoses, you will be giving your 335i maximum airflow by removing any restriction the OEM connections may have on the charged air.
